One of the nicest neighborhood in Amsterdam.
Tiny houses, small streets, feels like a village.
Many, many littles shops and restaurants to try,
don't miss the bio-market on saturday.

This building is the former gereformeerde Buiten-Amstelkerk. It is also commonly called "De Engel" because of the angel on the roof.

The whole church is surrounded by the "windows" of the Red Light district with scantily clad girls beckoning to male passers-by.You can also see the prostitution monument which is so small that you can bypass it. I simply can't imagine how these two things (church and brothels) coexist side by side. I know that many people will again speak of "tolerance" but I do not accept such an extreme form of it even in Amsterdam.

Beautiful church that provides some tranquility and silence in the hustle and bustle of central Amsterdam. Nice wall paintings. Entrance is free which makes me think it is a Roman Catholic church ( the Protestant Old church for example requires a fee for entrance).
